I read in the Phoenix Landing cookbook about cooking brown rice in carrot juice. I tried it over the Easter weekend and let me tell you it was so so yummy. It turned a bright orange and tasted like carrots. I used fresh, organic carrot juice. It must be loaded with the vitamins our birds need. I had so much I served it with Easter dinner.

Yum yum! Did you have any left over to see if this freezes and reheats well? Otherwise, making a fresh batch every time using a juicer and a rice cooker doesn't sound too difficult either!

I'm going to have to try this! Maybe try cooking my next batch of viva la veggies bird street bistro in carrot juice instead of water too. Where do you find carrot juice?

As a side note of goodies with carrots for people. For Easter an aunt made this carrot salad dish. It's shredded carrots, pineapple, and golden raisens in a mayo/sugar dressing (kinda like macaronni salad dressing) Very simple, and I was surprised at how good it was

There are several kinds of fresh, organic juices make in both small and larger bottles in most grocery stores. The company name starts with a B. Right now the full name escapes me. Rosie will also drink the juice out of a little cup. These juices are usually found in the produce section.

I mixed the rice in with a mix Volkman makes called featherglow and put up in freezer.
