I have a sonny and she is about 2yrs now. She only shrieks 3-4 times a day, eats well, plays in and out of her cage, bathes in her water dish and in the sink, says hell-o and her name so what more could I want?
Well I think she is trying to have sexy time on peoples LEFT shoulder. She fluffs up, raises her wings and backs up to your ear and then almost caresses your ear with her right wing. She seems almost frantic but you can get her to step up and then distract her. Once she starts for the evening she will do it when she is placed on your shoulder or she flies there by herself. She only becomes aggressive (and trust me she is being uber aggressive as I get the message she is sending) when you put an electronic device near her when she does this. I think it may be the reflection in the phone. (I never knew that she could open her beak that much and hope she never bites me or anyone else, she is so gentle that I forget she is a bird and can take a hunk out of anyone)
So does this sound like sexy time to you guys? If so is there anything else I can do to discourage it but to keep distracting her like I am (and not allowing electronic devices near her). Once we figured out what she might be doing we do our best not to encourage her or put her in a situation where she might be more inclined to do this.
One more thing, she likes to do a head bob very fast with a sort of click when she does it. If you put a finger near her beak she sort of Woody Woodpeckers your finger. You can elicit the behavior by tapping her beak and clicking yourself. It is cute, causes no aggression and she seems to enjoy it. It seems to me that it is a residual feeding behavior. Can someone identify it for me. If it is a sexual behavior I don't want to be doing that.
Thanks, sorry for the long first post.
Great board.
