Severe Macaw Digging/scratching floor

Hi All,

Noticed the other day that my Severe would play with his ball on the hardwood floor and start doing this "digging/scratching" on the floor with his legs. Almost like a dog digging a hole in the ground. Been doing this for a few days now. He's never done this before. Any ideas why he/she does this? Not sure what sex it is. Not sure if I want to know what sex it is either. He's a boy to me Luigie is his name.

How old is he?

I can't find it, but I know I read somewhere that macaws will dig out nests from... trees? Wish I could remember where I read it >.<
