I was talking on the phone to a customer service rep about animals, and she tells me she HAD a dog but gave it to her aunt because she was tired of it... Apparently the dog was "taking too long" on morning walks and making her late for work. Seriously???!! Wake up earlier!!!! Make adjustments in your schedule!!! Don't just give your pet the boot because you've been inconvenienced and you're too lazy to make it work.

Crap like that seriously irritates me. I was sooo tempted to go off on her, but it probably wouldn't have done any good.

People like that just don't get it. Ranting at her would have no effect, and just upset you further. :/

I hate to look at Craigslist just for all the ridiculous reasons people give for rehoming their animals.

If she's that irresponsible and uncommitted, it's really better for the dog that he/she is in someone else's care now. Our pets take hours out of every day, and if we weren't prepared to spend that time with them, my husband and I wouldn't have gotten them in the first place.

Best Regards,
Kittie

True... Most situations the animals go to better homes/situations -But I don't think this dog is in a better situation- she said she gave it to her aunt who doesn't even take the dog for a walk- she lets it crap in the house!

I know :/ that's another reason I bit my tongue... No sense in getting myself all worked up over it.

Ugh- Craigslist scares me sometimes!

This is horrible, but, it is the way it is. I've worked in Animal Welfare & Rescue and saw unbelievable things. The way people think about, and treat, their animals! Many people really DO think of pets as objects, or possessions. Completely disregarding the fact that this creature is a living, feeling, thinking being. Eventually, I couldn't take it any more. Now, I just care for birds. Which have always been, and will always be, my number one priority.

I have to disagree with you on this on, partially. While I am on your side that she should not get a pet that she is not willing to take care of. If she is not willing to wait long enough for the pup to do its business then the pup probably had a poor life in that home anyway. I can only hope that the new owners are giving the pup everything that he failed to get at her home. Some times its best for them to move than to stay in a bad home.

OOPS! I just read about the pup pooping in the house. I retract my statement, you are totally correct.

That's disappointing and saddening. I hope the aunt has a nice, pet-loving friend who will see the poor pup and take him off her hands - to a suitable home.

Best regards,
Kittie
