The Theme for September's POTM Contest is "Baby Picture / First Birdy Picture" (If you don't have a photo of your bird as a chick, then you may pick a photo when he/she first came to live with you)

Yay babies! I don't have any baby pictures, sadly. Here is a picture of one of our first bonding sessions. Espresso was terrified of hands so she wouldn't step up and treats were not an option for the first month that I knew her (I got a couple of beak touches in the early early days but that was it). I spent hours and hours finding things for her to do that involved me but not my hands...lots of boxes and shredders. Then I found out her absolute favorite treat in the whole world: cold water from a water bottle! She went crazy for it!

the first photo I ever got of my baby.
I THINK Kyo is the one in the middle, but not sure XD

Cute pic of Kyo and siblings :). I know... I also have pics of Raven and my other late BWP with siblings, and can only guess which one they are when it was the back view where their individual markings didn't show.

Sarah and Sweepea, my RFM, the night Sweepea came home.

No reds. No oranges. Not really any blues (the tips of a few feathers), just a little red spot, and a gleam in her eyes...

Complete MUSH from the egg... (and usually up to something!)

This was taken about 8 years later... She's still getting new colors as she molts. Even now at 12 years old, she still doesn't have all her adult blues. And the leading edge of the wing has changed to an even darker orange. She gets a few more red head feathers every year... about the only thing that hasn't changed is the mush factor.

Sydney's first night home, didn't have a cage yet and couldn't perch, so he slept next to me like this for the next two weeks.

The day I met Henry. He's in back, with his head blissfully resting on my thumb. Come to think of it, he still does that!

Too cute for words...

Somewhere I've got one of Pecker like this laying on my pillow with his head and neck stretched out across my neck. HOW CAN YOU NOT LOVE THIS STUFF?!

This is Zilla the day after she came to live with me. Still in the crappy little rusty cage she came in. Looking at these pictures made me sad :(

It's been almost a year now (how time flies) So happy she is healthy & happy now!

Looks like she hadn't bathed in awhile either...

Yeah.

Slight difference in feather quality. Posture. Demeanor. Activity level. Probably just general overall health. There's a spark in their eyes... after years of boredom and neglect, it just goes blank.

Is it any wonder that birds kept like that are dying off in their 20's... Where well cared for zons are still going strong well into their 60's and beyond...

I got Foo as an adult. Zekie is not a parrot, so I assume doesn't count, just for fun I'll put up one of his off feather days as a baby.

This is for fun--the photo of Henry is my official entry. But Eliza would kill me if she finds out I didn't include her. I was pretty nervous when I brought her home. How quickly would she adjust to her new surroundings? And a new human?

The answer to both those questions: "Well, that didn't take long!"

Just so you don't get too sad, here's a picture of him now.
