Josie - blue and gold macaw
Josie is about 2 1/2 years old and very chatty. The problem is that whenever I leave the house (sometimes even the room), she starts yelling for help and "get me out of here" "I'm a good girl" "Mom!!!" Thankfully, the neighbors are aware of her separation anxiety and don't call the police anymore. What can we do to prevent this behaivor?

Also, she rarely makes bird sounds anymore...she just talks to us like she is a person...she even joins in conversations. Is it even possible that she can follow conversations and join in like that?

Thank you for any input.

I'm having a similar experience with my pair of Hahns Macaws. I've discovered if you leave a radio or TV on normal volume or the surround sound amp' without the TV, it seems to soothe my two. They are now enjoy Planet Rock and Classic FM. If I'm away for a while and my wife is at work I'll phone home every few hours and leave messages on the answer phone for them as the can then hear my voice. If you want to monitor them leave a dictaphone on record to see what music or messages work best. Good luck :) Spooky Adam

Hey, I've done that! :D. Doesn't work when I have it set to divert to voicemail, though
