Sennie freakout

Tonight Sammie had her first poi freak out. I have a routine. I come in from work and immediately let Sammie out. Well, I opened the door to Sammie's cage and put my hand in for her to step up. She stepped up and then immediately flew off screaming. She broke a flight feather and when I tried to check it she continued to scream and scream even though I didn't see any blood.

To make a long story short she was not impressed with my leather jacket. I live in Houston and almost never wear a jacket and certainly not a winter jacket. Well, with the weird weather I put on one today. It wasn't until I took it off and let her settle down that she stopped screaming when I got near her.

Totally freaked me out until I figured out what the issue was. The joys of pois

Birds are so funny - you never know what will freak them out. Looks like you will have to keep the jacket off and hope for warm weather

Glad to hear Sammie is ok, I bet you his heart was going a mile a minute!
Safari was sort of weird that way too, one day I put a different dish on top of the cages and you thought I had put a bomb up there, he totally freaked out....ahhh Sennies, you gotta love 'em.

It's just not Sennies, that do this.... just this week my daughter walked into our bedroom with a tuke(hat) on her head, my birds have never seen that before, all the cockatiels freaked out. As soon as I realized what was happening, I told my daughter to remove the hat, once she did, they calmed down...
