Hey all, as some of you may know I adopted Merlin a few week ago... he's fantastic... except for his poos!

Don't get me wrong, I expected big horrid poos and all my clothes to progressively get stained from them etc... but should senegal poo REALLY be this big and runny?

If anyone with a senegal could post a picture of their poos I'd actually really appreciate it (gross, ey?)

I'll put a pic up of Merlins when hes done another but I just wanna know if it's "normal" or not and if I should consider Johnsons Avol Mixture to help deal with the "runny poo" problem!

Has anyone used this mixture? I've been looking for reviews but can't find any unfortunately! :(

Well, I won't post a picture of Tiki's poop on the open forum, but if you send me a private message with your email addie, I will be more than happy to send you a picture for your poop collection.

if there is nothing wrong with him, it is most probably down to what his eating! foods with high water content, drinking lots

i'm not really into the thought of using something to solve a problem that isn't really one, or could cause a problem

ok nuts poop can range from sturdy little dryish blobs to big runny messes down my wall! not including her morning poop

poop in 3 parts water/white/solid as the general rule of thumb

but nut normally misses the water bit as she doesn't drink much, but as soon as she gets the fresh fruit *splat!

hope this helps some

Haha, thanks guys :p

He has been eating a fair amount of fresh fruit&veggies -oranges/grapes/apples/strawberries/tomatoes etc!

But I'm just shocked at the sheer size and... wateryness of them, guess I'm just used to budgie's who pee when they poop and it's all normally a hardish thing I can easily clear up, not some mammoth THING that Merlin does.

I guess I'll get that picture from mtdoramike and compare, speak to the vet and see what happens! I was just worried my poor dears tummy wasn't settling well or something... I expected runny when he was being syringe fed but less so with his parrot food!

Owell, I've just filled up a pocket size disinfectant that I can carry with me to spray whereever he happens to poop. :p

oh instant wipe is good, cos the one's i've missed need chisling off lol

also the longer they hold off poopin the bigger the poop lol

wooo weeeee do Senegals compete with the big boys when it comes to poo!!

Elsies will get big and watery in the summer where i assume she is drinking more due to the heat...but i have also seen some pretty mega 'solid' poos that she is capeable of, what they lack in size they make up for in EVERYTHING else!!! x

Also mine doesnt do it, but a friends African Grey , will not poo in its cage, and will literally hold on all day until she is out to go, and that is MEGA POO!! maybe yours is doing the same just holding it in?!!

Merlin has taken a liking to pooping on the floor and seems to be avoiding doing it on any person and his cage is practically spotless in regards to pooping so I think that may the case then, holding it in all night until he's let out in the morning.

I think I'm just overly worried as I've only recently got him back after being away pretty much since I bought him.

His poos seem to be getting smaller and um... normalling themselves out (except the massive morning one!). So I guess it's just the changes in his diet and everything that've made them so... horrific!

Thanks Mike for the pics, they actually helped! ;)
