I'm planning on making a new addition to my family with another bird but am having a hard time deciding. Presently I have a parrotlet Charlie. I am looking at either a brown headed parrot or a green cheek conure. Now to make things even harder I saw someone is trying to adopt a 5 month old mustache parakeet which would also be a good option. I'm looking for a bird that is on the quiter side, talking is really not a big deal to me and I guess enjoy the human interaction but be okay with idependence as well. Tall order I suppose. I've been reading about all of these but it's just getting muddied up so I though I would ask all of you, who have experience with the species to give me your opinions. Thanks!

I am looking to add another bird someday too . I currently have linnies, which might be another bird for you to check out. They are a bit bigger than parrotlet but tend to be more laid back. I vote for the green cheek though, that is what I am leaning towards as well;) Good luck!!

Welcome to the forum :)

GCC are adorable.... Have you also thought about a Senegal or a Pionus?

If you want a quiet bird don't get a gcc, I speak from experience, when they say green cheeks are quiet they mean quiet conures(conures are one of the loudest species of parrots), not quiet parrots. I agree you should look into the poi family or even the pionus family if you want something larger and more laid back.

And welcome to the forum.

I agree with cdog, I have a sun conure and he is loud so loud he lost his real name of lorenzo and eveyone started calling him screech..he is quiet only when i am holding him and that still not really quiet since I dance with him he likes to dance to poker face and he even screeches during the song.. basically he's really quiet when he is eating or sleeping LOL

My friend has a sun and a green cheek and they are very loud the green cheek is not a quiet birdie they can hang with a sun conures screeches
