Introducing...
Seiji!
I'm very excited to welcome the newest member of my flock! Seiji is a male budgie, his age is unknown. He, along with over 800 other budgies, was rescued from a hoarding situation and brought to Birds and Beaks Rescue and Rehab in Michigan. He can only fly short hops that involve little to no flapping and can't ascend, descend, or turn in the air at all. He's also very skittish and not well socialized at all.

This is the best photo I could take at the moment without scaring him. When he's a little tamer I'll get some better ones.
This will probably become his life thread.

Thanks, everyone! He’s been too scared for me to do much with him, so I haven’t really been interacting with him. But I know he won’t step up, take millet from my hand, come out of the cage, play with toys, and he’s on a mostly seed diet, so…

Today he's been eating more, moving around a bit more, still terrified of any movement or noise but at least acts somewhat normal in his cage...
Any remotely good photo is still out of the question
I also changed the name of the thread, since now it's his life thread

Today I was able to pull up a chair , about 7 or 8 feet away, and read to him. He was scared at first but after a while came to the side of his cage to watch.
I'll continue to do this, I guess.

I’ve had Seiji for a whole week now! There hasn’t been much progress with taking and diet conversion but he’s more comfortable in his surroundings now…
He’s started preening and eating more when left alone.

Aw, he's so cute! I'm glad you were able to adopt him.
Once his quarantine is over, do you plan on putting him with your other budgies? I'm sure that will help him, as he'll learn from the other's that you're not a threat.

Not in the same cage unless they want to. My current birds do have a great bond with me so after quarantine that might help…I have no plans for housing him with the other budgies though.
