Securing Drop Food Doors

My GCC's cage has dropping doors for her food dishes. But she's started playing with them, lifting them up and dropping them. (My parakeets have never even thought to do this!) I secured them with twist ties, but that's not really a long-term solution.

I thought about locks, but I want something that really holds it shut tight; I don't want her to be able to lift it just enough to catch a toe or something.

Ideas?

You can use a plastic chain oop, plastic chain from home Depot or Lowe's. Smart girl! She needs some puzzle toys, plus conures love untie knots, I read that tried it and it's true for Ta-dah!

On JoJo’s outdoor cage with this style doors, I put tyewraps above them as a damper. It adds a lot of resistance to the sliding motion!

She definitely loves knots! Do you recommend any particular puzzle toys?

I wish I just make my own. Those days if the week plastic pill holders, I use those the ones that the lid will flip open easy, I put one seed in each. I float plastic caps in shallow water with a seed in them. My GCC has learned to carefullyift the lid out if the water veuth out spilling the seed then eats stuff like that I need to order some if the real ones!!

Try the magnet-trick -> if a magnet does not stick to it, it perfect grade stainless. The cheap iron ones covered with chromium or zinc will hold the magnet.
