have any of you ever seen these beauties? i saw a photo of ones face close up on my pinterest feed one day, showing off its long eyelashes, but the photo didnt show the whole bird. i did a search online and WOAH it looks nothing like what i had in mind! these things are so unique looking! theyre almost like living art! worth a look if youve never heard of them :)

Beautiful video! Incredible birds, thank you for sharing! "Almost like living art," such a lovely description.

The Abilene zoo has a resident secretary bird! We tend to make a trip there every year and I love seeing their birds of prey although they're a rather small zoo and some things are honestly questionable. Anyway...the secretary birds are some of my favorite animals to see in person, both stunning and very bizarre, built nothing like the raptors except for that classic beak.

I seriously adore them, but perhaps for silly reasons... I just think it's ridiculously impressive that they literally stomp their prey to catch them. Who would've thought such a beautiful bird would hunt in such a unique way?
