A woman recently found a bird in her yard, and posted on facebook stating she couldnt keep it. I stepped in and brought it home. I am posting everywhere I can about finding it but so far it seems to be ANOTHER dumped bird. Legally the owner has 9 days to come and get it... then it is MINE! It seems like this bird was owned by someone who had NO idea what they were doing, but it also seems to have been given attention. Anyway, once the 17th of February rolls around, I will be posting pics and details on what kind of bird it is, but I have been holding it in!

The annoying thing is the people who say "I want it" even when I have not said what kind of bird it is because I want the owners to describe it to me. Ugh some people!

I went through that when I found that CAG...

Some idiot showed up on my doorstep with a "shoe box" for a travel cage, and thought I was going to let her walk out of my house with a bird that recoiled in horror at the sight of her...

UMMM, NO! YOU'RE LEAVING NOW...

When his real owner showed up, that bird lit up like a Christmas tree! And he had pictures on his phone, a hatch certificate, a REAL travel cage... AND THE BIRD FLEW TO HIM. So, yeah, there's a hint!

Dumped Bird. How sad and evil can you be to do something like that. Thank you for helping

A lot of people just don't get it. They don't think it through. He's a bird. Let them go in the wild, and they do what ever it is that birds do...

If by that you mean act as a food source for other animals when they die, it's entirely correct.

LOOK AT THE MESS PEOPLE MADE IN THE EVERGLADES BY "HUMANELY" DUMPING THEIR PET PYTHONS IN THE SWAMP WHEN THEY DIDN'T WANT THEM ANYMORE...

SAME IQ. HELLO. APEX PREDATOR, NO NATURAL ENEMIES. WHAT DID YOU THINK WAS GOING TO HAPPEN?!

I KNOW... LET'S REINTRODUCE ALL THOSE PET TIGERS INTO SOME NATURAL ENVIRONMENT WHERE THEY'LL THRIVE, SOMEPLACE LIKE, SAY, YOSEMITE...

THERE'S A GOOD IDEA! :p SAVE THE TIGERS!!! REDUCE TOURIST POLLUTION AT THE SAME TIME... WIN/WIN!

Pythons are not all just dumped in the everglades some are pets who have gotten loose, some are the results of the importation of the pet trade and being in warehouses that were destroyed from the storms but yes some are also the result of being dumped as unwanted pets. Florida for the second year has now been doing a hunting thing where people are going out and catching and killing them which in my opinion is wrong as well. They are destroying the natural balance of our natural ecosystem, as so many places around the world have this problem, ex. Aussies have tons of rabbits... did you know they were introduced as hunting quarry as well as the camel and the fox too i believe, some even say the dingo as well.. We as humans need to pay attention and educate our kids that all animals have a specific region they come from.. most of the time not from our back yard. Not all make good pets but yes they are cool little creatures.. Yes we must as responsible owners learn all we can before buying that neat critter who just may turn into Godzilla when fully grown. Tegu's are another invasive species in Southern Florida and are highly aggressive and do pack a punch... let this be a lesson to all of us worldwide. Thanks all.. oh and recently Anacondas have been found in Florida also... so far i know of 2 just miles from me.... most of these reptiles are required a permit to have.

Well, yeah.

My point was you don't just randomly let things go in the wild... without at least thinking about the impact it has on the environment and/or whether or not the animal will suffer.

Hey, just look at all the stray dogs and cats that get dumped in the park... that's just as bad.

Then again, maybe this is just my day to rant over random slightly off topic things...

I've been known to do that.

But at least I am still wearing pants, so I don't need to be put in a home just yet...

People make me sad. I'm so glad there are people like you, Dani, who know what they're doing and do it exceptionally well.

Shame on the fools who think it's okay to just let a bird out, or take claim because they think it's a "cool" pet to have/flip. [emoji34]

Do pajama pants count as "still wearing pants"? If not, I'm in trouble.

(I'm a housewife. If I don't actually have anywhere to go, I sometimes just don't even bother to get dressed in real clothes.)

As for the dumping. Egads that makes me mad. Somebody mentioned the Everglades. I grew up and until a few years ago, lived in an area of South Florida called the Redland, which is an agricultural community on the edge of the Everglades. Not much gets me more riled up than dumped pets, and particularly exotic pets. We had trouble with snakes, iguanas, several birds, cats and dogs galore, and in one notable instance, a monitor lizard was caught sunning himself by the pool. People are idiots.

Here in Hawaii we have many feral parrots including lovebirds and ringnecks... and a huge outbreak of PBFD...

I am diligently searching for the owner of this bird, but I dont think they want to be found.

Lol I am a terrible person I'm so lazy about posting pictures, but I WILL do it! I'm going to have to dig more into genetics too, since he is much lighter than my lutino hen Napoleon. Not light enough to be creamino, but much lighter than she is, so that's a new puzzle for me!!

I just love his name. I may have to steal that one day. ;-)
