Hello everyone,

My ekky is kept in a cage outdoors. Whenever my partner comes home he takes him out and brings him in the house where he spends some time with him. Chilli is about 13-14 weeks old. Now the problem is that he's quiet all day until he hears my partners voice. My partner just ignores his screams and is careful not to react to his screaming and remain neutral. Sometimes he'll be sitting on the couch with my partner and just look at him and scream. He seeme to love my partner very much as he hands feeds him formula every night and he takes him out of the cage but the screaming is getting annoying. Does anyone have any advice how to stop it?

Sounds like your partner needs to do some screaming training with your bird, instead of ignoring it...it won't be an instant fix, but since you say the bird scrams for your partner's attention, your partner is the one who will need to show his displeasure with the screaming.....

Good luck.....

Screaming behavior modification protocols are posted in the training section.

Some of this is probably normal vocalizations - happy to see you - even happier to see you with food in your hand - I'm hungry is it dinner time yet?

Those are just going to happen. Parrots are not quiet pets. Never have been. Never will be. Sometimes it is annoying. You just learn to deal with it.

They can, however, be trained out of excessive attention screaming:
