1 x Male green Cheeked Conure - Max
So my Male plum head Sammy has gotten into the habit of screaming very loudly he starts from the minute he is let out of his cage to late at night. He used to always make noise but it was more singing and mimicking odd things but now its developing into full on screaming.

I've tried to give him toys to entertain him but it doesn't stop the behavior. I'm not picking him up or giving him treats when he screams so as to not reinforce the behavior but nothing is working to stop it. He has toys in his cage but he just ignores them.

My father is starting to get really frustrated with him and has thrown things at the cage every now and then. With my eldest sister staying home for a few months with her baby this problem is only going to get worse, Any help would be appreciated.

Hmmmm, boredom is one reason, flock calling is another that it may be exhibiting, try a radio on a soft station by the cage. usually works. It is seeking attention. Move the cage where it has full visibility to what's going on around the house.

Parrots hate to be shut out of activity. Involve it more. Cover the cage with a sheet when noisy, they'll stop. After 30 minutes, take it off. if the screaming starts back up, cover cage again. Allow adequate out of cage time. None of my birds ever have their cage doors shut. ever. At nite I say nite nite, and they ( sometimes) fly to their cage and go inside, but door remains open. Works good that they know they have freedom as well as love and caring. Mine scream once in a while. But all I have to say is " you want to go in your cage??" ( I shut the door when it's a time out which is rare) and they have learned what time out and going in cage means.

His cage is right in the dining room so hes always around people. The tv is always as well so there's constant noise going on. he is usually on my shoulder but when he starts flapping his wings to get back to the cage I take him over. otherwise the cage is never closed as he and his cage mate Korra tend to sit on top of it more then in it.

Ill try putting the sheet over the cage and see how that goes.

Just out of curiosity, is there a place it goes at night where it's quiet?

Birds can get very vocal when and right before they are tired. Lack of proper sleep is the number one cause of behavioral problems.
I have 3 cages for each of my birds, their night time cage is in a separate bedroom. No noise or lights when it's their bedtime.

If it isn't possible then cover the cage at no later than 9 pm and take cover off around 7 am....you'll see a difference. No lights on near cage at this time when sleeping.

There cage currently stays in the living room still. I might look into buying a separate cage to put in the bathroom or my bedroom.
