Saw a neglected lovebird yesterday

I don't know the whole story, but I tried a new cafe. Outside, they had a single, bright yellow lovebird in a cage that I would only put finches in. It had no toys, only seed in the dish, and the water dish was filthy. It didn't seem friendly to me, but not scared either.

What should I do? Poor birdy.

I'd talk to the cafe owner about it...

You never know the full story without asking. Maybe it's in the cage while it's other one is being cleaned out or something? Either that or they don't understand what they're doing is wrong...Offer them a few tips to improve the birds living conditions.

If nothing is done about it within a couple of days, I'd get in touch with an animal rescue if I were you : (

i have come to the conclusion that ppl still keep birds/animals in a very arcane out dated and cruel manner, unintentionally alot of the times

to point this out to them would cause more problems then its worth for the poor creature, knee jerk reactions are always OTT

that could just be its day cage, etc thought the water situation is not good

The cage was in between potted plants, so I don't know if there was another cage. I suppose it could be its outdoor cage, or its at-work cage, but there wasn't a single toy... And the filthy water dish is a bad sign. It didn't look like it had been cleaned in a loooong time.

Remy in a situation like that, I couldn't help myself i would have to take the water dish out & tip it out, then just say i noticed your bird doesn't have any water can you direct me to the nearest tap & i will fill it up for you. They would be more that likely happy for the help.

Just out of interest, did you see the lovebird again? Was anything sorted? I hope it was!

If the situation does not improve, call the SPCA, Humane Society, or a local shelter.
