13yr. old male umbrella cockatoo,
we call him Amigo!

7yr. old Goffin cockatoo, she IS Sassy!!
I noticed a couple days ago that at the base of my Sassy goffin's tail feathers, there are a couple of sharp, high test fishing line type, about half inch long,,things?, don't know any other way to say it, coming out of her, they kind of curl upwards. I noticed them while running my hand down her. Could they be where she shredded a couple feathers? It looks and feels just like fishing line! Any thoughts? Never seen anything like it.

Sometimes if they snap off a feather and shred the quill, the thin shreaded pieces can curl. Not sure I'd describel them as fishing line like though. Depending on its location, I'd double check and make sure this isn't a problem with her preen gland. Maybe try to post a picture or have a vet check it over.
