Hi. I've been having success dyeing wooden toy parts for our fids. Spools, beads, clothes pins, blocks of wood etc. So this week we went and bought an untreated 2X4 from Home Depot. Boyfriend cut it up, drilled nice big holes, cut some channels in the blocks for me, and I dyed them all. Well while I had them in the oven drying, sap started bubbling out. I've heard that the birds should not have sap. I'm pretty bummed out, cause it seems as if all this nice chunky colorful wood is going to be wasted :(

Does anyone know if there's anything I can do? If I bake it long enough, or at a higher temperature, can I save the project, or is it all for naught?

Untreated kiln dried wood usually has that sap cooked out of it so I am thinking if you took the temp up higher or baked them for longer it should dry it out better. I would try that before scrapping the whole project.:)
