My Sam is a 35 year old BFA, who I have had since he was 11 weeks old. Six months ago, on his annual vet visit, he was diagnosed with fatty liver disease. His AST was elevated at 121. The vet prescribed Lactulose with Milk Thistle once daily. Since then, we have given him the meds religiously. I am happy to say that his new AST from last Saturday was 101. His weight has stabilized at 550 Gms. and all of his other blood work was normal.

The liver enzymes are still slightly elevated, but going in the right direction. I want my big green chicken to be with us for a long time to come. I don't know what life is without him, and I don't want to find out. :green:

My Moustache Parakeet has had high liver readings. They refer to it as a high BA (Bile Acid) reading. Is that the same as AST? For now we are trying to correct it with diet changes and Opt Omega drops that my bird HATES taking.

Wishing your birdie continued good health!
