Sammy's favorite time of day is free flight. He's found his wings and his place in the flock. He was a bit miffed today after being put in a time out for biting. Again. He was offended when I rebuffed his offer to supervise cage cleaning from my shoulder, a little too close to my ear. It resulted in a bite which immediately earned him a time out.

Voicing his complaints rather loudly

Quakers hold grudges. After his time out was up, he retrieved each of these items from his cage and dropped them on me one at a time from the air.

Sweetly imploring me to return his used ammo

Returning his missile to it's proper location. No sense wasting a great stick.

Quakers look like they should be sweet little cuddly birds, but I found out with Kick they are NOT! They have HUGE attitudes and think they are the biggest of Macaws!

I still wish I could have made him happy, but he is where he is supposed to be. I visited him a couple days ago and he still doesn't like me so much , but he loves his Daddy! :D

Haha, they are opinionated to say the least. They aren't everyone's ideal bird. I'm not sure why, I'm just fascinated by their intelligence, and there's something very compelling about parrots who will argue with me in my own language.

Im sorry it didn't work out, Amanda but I'm so glad Kick loves his new dad.

Harry detests my grandson and the cable guy! She never forgets a face.

LMAO, Sammy you bad, bad boy! And I thought you ripping the keys off my keyboard when I ignored you in favor of typing was bad--now you are bombing people? And a SHOE bomb at that? Tsk tsk my love! That is not any way to treat your new momma!

Allee, you summed up exactly what I love about Quakers!! They may be brats, but they sure are SMART brats! I'm so glad my boy is settling in so well and hope he learns his lesson about nipping!

I think a quaker is next on my list. Their architecture is amazing!

Michelle, his bombing missions were hilarious! I think Harry and Sweet Pea were impressed. He has some tricks even Harry has never seen. She was telling him to, Be A Good Boy.

His nipping isn't so bad, he understands what the time outs are for, he stays on his perch until I ask him to step up. He's like a two year old at bedtime, he'll talk and talk to stay up for a few more minutes.

Hahahahahaha! I loved this update, Allee! But shame on Sammy, dive bombing his mother like that! Seems to be settling in quite well with your flock though, eh?

Architects with attitude! Sammy is serious about his building projects, nothing gets in his way accept mealtime. Quakers are lots of fun! Never a dull moment.

How do you like that, Doc? Air raids! He actually hit me with the stick and the chain, the shoe missed me by several inches. I think Sammy really enjoys being with the other birds. He stays pretty close to Harry and Sweet Pea when they are out. His interest in the budgies may not be too healthy. He seems to be studying them, I hope he doesn't think they look like dinner. They have an advantage, they fly much faster than Sammy.

Hubby and I have been looking at possible second birds, and of all the quakers we met, there was one that melted our heart. She was 10 years old and the sweetest little cutie. She stepped right up for me without even knowing me. She was not for sale lol

The rest? They all scream at us until we go away :p I think they are hilarious birds, but I don't think we are meant to be quaker parronts :p

Allee, I absolutely LOVE reading updates on your flock! Your narratives (or the flocks' narrative ;) ) always results in my face turned upwards....like this -->:D<--

Sammy SO fits in! :smile015:

I know that his previous owners had budgies. They were in a separate cage, but they were very close to Sammy's (tiny!) cage and supposedly they were friends. (They had him living in the cage I gave you guys to transport him in, which is the one I used as his sleeping cage when he lived with me.) Maybe he remembers his old buddies and wonders if these guys are related?

That explains a lot, thanks Michelle. He has been very friendly with the budgies since day one, he likes their food too, and their cage.

HAHA...very funny! I have to keep an eye on Cisco when he is supervising me cleaning his cage...he's never thrown things at me though...lol

Allee, I too love your stories! That Sammy seems like quite a character...has Harry called him the "P" word yet?

Thanks for the kind words, Everyone! :)

Terry, Harry often refers to her new flockmate as Pervert. I tell her not to judge, but Harry dances to her own drumbeat. I think they like each other.

I'm getting the impression that Sammy is just as feisty as Harry, in his own way-- and has a unique means of expressing himself. :D The only thing Ralph ever throws at me is unwanted food, and I just happen to be standing where he tosses it. I'd better not tell him about Sammy, or I might get hit in the head with a teaspoon. ;)
