Porter is afraid of EEEEVERYTHING.

Rope toys.. just got a few new perches and put them near his cage he will have NOTHING to do with them... tried the waiting game and it doesn't change anything. He haaaates new things.

What do you guys suggest I do?

How close to his cage are they? With birds who are phobic of new items you should first have them completely across the room and slowly bring them closer over the weeks. Introducing your bird to a new thing everyday(could be a note book, chair, pencil/pen, computer, even showing them how you flip the light switch) can help to teach them that new things aren't scary.

It sucks he's afraid of the things you bought for him :(

I've tried that method sadly had some toys for.... three months now and he still won't touch them x.x

Have you tried playing with the toys where Porter can watch from a safe distance? Playing with the toys, and acting like you're having the most fun ever, often gets a parrot interested enough to want to join in the fun. Explain things to Porter too-- tell him "this is such a nice perch, and will feel wonderful under your feet... " It sounds a bit silly, but it often works.

Have you tried covering the 'scary things' with millet or another favorite treat?
