SECOND EDIT: Thanks to all who have clarified this issue, I am happy to find that I likely made a mistake as to the intention of the reply in question. I apologize to the poster if your comment was not directed at my original post. Also thank you for all of your support regarding our bird that was killed, it is much appreciated.
I have been away from the forums for a little over a year and when I came back I was very upset with what I found. One of my last posts was about our first bird who was killed by Pampered Pets Hawaii (www.oahupetboarding.com), and I was infuriated by one of the replies I received. He was allowed to enter the cage of a cockatoo, who naturally defended his territory against our poor little lovebird.
Here is the post,"(EDIT: It has been brought to my attention this may have been a misunderstanding, to protect the poster in that case, I have removed this quote.)"
I would like to let everybody know that we now share our home with a very playful and cuddly Sun Conure, who likes to go on hikes and walks on the beach with us. Since we got him we have left home twice, that due to Hawaii's strict animal quarrantine laws, we have not been able to take him. While we are gone a young man who works for me, who had previously been well acquainted with our bird, spends a lot of time in our home with him while we are gone and usually stays overnight. He is in constant contact with us and has out avian vet's number, who is available for emergencies 24 hours a day. This young man is also informed about parrot behavior, nutrition, and common signs of health issues.
I was originally going to write the name of the user who is responsible for that post, but it doesn't matter because you know who you are.
The real reason I posted this is to enlighten all of you in the internet community who believe the way you live is the only correct one. Everybody on this earth has a life that you may be unfamiliar with, one that has different demands and situations that you have likely not considered. Please keep that in mind when you want to bash someone for conducting their personal business in a way different from your own. We all love our parrots and most of us give them the best we can offer.
Ricky was buried along side one of our favorite hiking trails, so we could visit him every time we go for a hike.
