Safe ways to fix my Conure's cage

I have a Dusky Conure named Gus, he is just under a year old and my husband and I have had him for 6 months. We just recently purchased him a nice big new cage, and about a week later we noticed he had broken one of the bars, where it attatched to the big side verticle bar. I was watching him last night and he keeps playing with it and I am afraid that he will try to get out via the gap and get stuck and hurt himself. I know that however I fix it he will be chewing on it. Any ideas on ways to fix it that are safe for him? At the moment I put a toy over it but I am not sure how long it will be before he figures a way around it. He is sneaky

Can you take the cage back to where you purchased it? A nice, new cage should NOT have that happen.

I would take it back and call the manufacturer....I agree that this should not happen with a new cage.....can you post the kind of cage to see if anyone else has had the same problem? Or maybe as a warning for someone looking at that particular cage? It seems like a dangerous situation for any bird. I don't know if the admin would let you do that or not, but I am currently cage shopping and want to know about that cage so I am prepared. It may just be a defect in that one particular cage and not a flaw in all the cages of that kind or by that manufacturer.....

I purchased a cage off Craigslist that had a loose bar. I got some Gorilla Glue Cement from Home Depot and 20 minutes later it was as good as new.
