Bird the budge
the cage I currently have has 3 food cup holders, one of them not being used. So there’s an empty ring that I could place a platform. I was thinking of simply placing a flat rock on top of the ring so my birds nails can get trimmed a little and to add a resting spot for him. Are there rocks toxic to birds? I would think so because of the minerals. But it’s not like he’ll break the rock.
Also, i want to add a small container that I can grow sprouts in that will sit at the bottom of the cage so that there’s fresh greens at all times. Any suggestions on what I should use for the container? Don’t plan on using plastic.

Not sure about the rock idea but if you do, please make sure it is properly secured. You wouldn't want it slipping and possibly pinning his leg between the rock and food ring. Also don't want it to fall on him.

The sprout container, how about a small dog water bowl. The ones that do not tip over easily.
Something like this:

The soil, I have no experience with this but I think others will have a recommendation.

There are plenty of platform type perches you can purchase that are safe and you can put that on top of the ring for extra support. Not sure I would ever trust a rock in the cage that is not secured and there is always the concern of toes getting caught between a rock sitting on the ring.

You can also find pedi perches that would be safer, just be sure to get the solid type, not the ones with grit that the bird can pick off.
