Sadly rehoming...

I'm hearbroken to have to rehome my caique due to illness...

I had previously found a wonderful home for him (he's been there a year and a half), but the new owner brought a dog into his house and it's not a good fit. I was given the option to take him back, which I gladly have done. Now it falls to me to find another best-of-the-best (of course!) home.

He currently has a roommate, but does get jealous when the owner is around as he wants to be an only bird.

If you're reading this forum, you already know about caique quirks, but please feel free to ask any questions.

I'm in Texas, in the DFW area.

I'm very sorry for your troubles...
You're really hanging in there, not taking the easy way out. I wish you well. It must be heartbreaking for all of you to go through the rehoming and re-rehoming.

Kja, The two posts laurzse is talking about are mine. As I said above, I lived with a roommate who had two Quakers. We were roommates for 4 years when she went to college. I am also looking on web sights that sell birds. If a fee is required I am willing to pay one. I have done tons of research and my home is 'bird proofed'. I will gladly answer any question you may have. I hate that people have to be so leery on these sites but I truly understand. I will give my number if you want more info. The second chance bird and reptile rescue in Rochester NY has a great application. You could use that? It's the first post on their Facebook page. It takes a lot of thought to complete it with personal references and the vet to call. Vetting is the best thing about going through a rescue.

Be very cautious with giving your bird to someone you don't know. I am not trying to make accusations or anything like that, but the sad fact is, there are a lot of "flippers" out there...
If someone isn't an established member of the forum, I would just make sure that you use caution. Again, no offense intended...when a first-post is an offer to re-home, that is often a red-flag...Not a definite problem, but definitely something common among certain posters.

You have to look at it from the other side point of view. It is quite common for bird flippers to watch various forums and threads and make up good stories to obtain a bird for free, or almost nothing and then turn around and flip the bird for profits. It happens a lot. Most are from social media sites like Facebook and Craigslist and ETC. Then you find the same bird listed for much more with a fake good story behind it, or they pretend the bird a baby and list at ultra high prices with professional quality pictures and usually well written listing. Not everyone has morals? Yes they obtain the bird under false pretenses and come up with the best stories even. Yes 99% are new members that only join to obtain the bird and usually use different accounts, so they can pretend to be different people?

Not say everyone does that, but unfortunately most are like that.
