Sadie is a three year old labrador mix, well behaved and a sweetheart. She knows she's not allowed to get too close to the bird. Pollo is a golden conure who was out of her cage this morning in the den when she decided to take a short flight... and then landed on the dog. When Pollo landed, she grabbed onto Sadie's collar on the back of her neck. Sadie stood up and the collar shifted around so the bird was hanging upside down from Sadie's neck flapping her wings like crazy. I think her talons were stuck in the fiber of the dog collar. The dog freaked out and bolted through two dog doors to get outside with the bird hanging on like an upside-down rodeo cowboy. Then Pollo freed herself and flew over the fence! She was found 10 minutes later on a rose bush in a backyard two houses down. Being bright yellow, she was easy to spot! She's back home safe but how's that for a freak accident, scarey adventure?
