Driving home from Town, I was excited to see a biggish flock of two hundred or so SC2s on the median strip close to my place. Seconds later, I also saw a single bird stumbling along by the drain, clearly trying to get a drink and too weak to do so. He was almost bald and had a funny-shaped bill. I'm guessing it was a case of PBFD. I wanted to go back, but as my husband said, the bird wouldn't allow me to catch him and I'd probably wind up driving him into the peak-hour traffic. So we left him. I feel *awful*!!! :(

it's always difficult to see an animal suffer that you cannot provide help for.

:( Always hard to leave an animal in distress like that. I feel for you. But you did what was best for your flock. Hope the poor mite has a swift ending to prolonged suffering...

As far as I know, it's not mandatory to report PBFD unless you own the bird that has it. Must find out about that!
