Sad sight today

Driving home from Town, I was excited to see a biggish flock of two hundred or so SC2s on the median strip close to my place. Seconds later, I also saw a single bird stumbling along by the drain, clearly trying to get a drink and too weak to do so. He was almost bald and had a funny-shaped bill. I'm guessing it was a case of PBFD. I wanted to go back, but as my husband said, the bird wouldn't allow me to catch him and I'd probably wind up driving him into the peak-hour traffic. So we left him. I feel *awful*!!!

That's very sad, do you have to report PBFD to your local animal authorities?

it's always difficult to see an animal suffer that you cannot provide help for.

Always hard to leave an animal in distress like that. I feel for you. But you did what was best for your flock. Hope the poor mite has a swift ending to prolonged suffering...

same thing happened with a robin exept it was a broken wing laterhe had a had a heart atack we found out he was attacked by a cat

As far as I know, it's not mandatory to report PBFD unless you own the bird that has it. Must find out about that!
