So I was happy having Henry & Tinkerbell as a bonded pair.
But Roxy turned up at the rescue and she was so good looking, hand tame, and needed a home.
My thoughts were! Maybe having another Tiel around Tinkerbell would help her feel a bit safer.
The night I brought her home she snuggled into my neck as if she was so pleased her luck had changed for the better.
She was only here 5wks when she laid her first egg! She was sitting on my shoulder at the rescue when she dropped it. The egg was soft shell.
Next one she laid while in flight. The third while roosting on the gym overnight. The forth again she was on my shoulder, I felt it roll down my back.
All the eggs were poor weak shelled. I knew she needed to rest, so went with 3x injections to stop her laying, which did work. After the injections she got an infection and had to be put on medication.
poor little girl.
And just a few weeks back she started to get frisky again. Answer? No more meds. Find a mate, at least it has stopped her from posturing to me.
This is where Max comes in. They bonded so well and she has taken to the nest box. 10days and still no eggs though. When that egg turns up it had better be solid! It will be fertile as Max has had his way a few times now.
I think she will make a very good mum.
Would you believe I had only had her home two hours, from the rescue?
