Rough time

Hey my much adored Grey has been diagnosed with Psittacosis, he has no symptoms but it was discovered during tests for feather plucking which they think still is unrelated to Psittacosis,but to do with too close a relationship,and thats about frustration and hormones. In the same month as I was told my dogs immune system was rejecting his eyeballs,and he was put on HIV medication. It's been a tough couple of months.Any advice about Psittacosis would be greatly appreciated.I have have banned everyone from the house till it's dealt with.

Are you serious - rejecting his eyeballs? Did you get a second opinion? Thats so strange, like saying my immune system is rejecting my hand.
Did he have a transplant?

A quick bit of research confirms my recollection that psittacosis is contagious, from bird to bird and also from bird to human...

Genuinely been a weird month.The dog has an auto immune disorder which was affecting his eyes.Had to go to the Vet school to get it diagnosed.Wasn't really really rejecting his eyeballs (was but being a bit dramatic) ,more his tear ducts and it looked like he would lose his eyes because no lubrication,medication is helping greatly.Would not be surprised if my other dog came down with Ebola tbh.What a year.

Oh don't say that, Ebola is contagious too!!!

My best advice about the Chlamydia is to first and foremost keep antibacterial soap and hand sanitizer everywhere, and wash your hands every time you handle the bird or anything belonging to the bird. I would also sanitize the bird's cage, dishes, toys, everything and anything the bird touches. Do not kiss him or have any close contact with him or his mouth or droppings until he is done with his medication and in the clear. And any other pets need to be separated from the bird and it's droppings, excess food, seed shells, etc. It's a highly contagious disease, but very treatable.

What meds was he put on?

I have had to ban everyone from my house for 3 months till my boy gets better.Psittacosis is a zoonoose and it can pass to humans.I don't really care though.The prognosis is good and that's all that matters.

I'm using avian disinfectant and wetting the papers at the bottom of his cage with spray to stop the dander floating about,got air filter going all day. He's fine no symptoms.He showed up an enlarged spleen in X-rays.Tests showed he had this.
