So the budgies, or the 3 amigos as I call them , have been coexisting happily together for a couple weeks now- I put the doors of the two cages facing each other and always open, so they can go back and forth....quigley is still the "3rd wheel" and does not cuddle or closely interact with lemon and cloud, but lemon has started to try and win her over he can get very close to her, but she never lets him touch her...so she's warming up to them (just very slowly)- it took a few weeks of them living next to each other but still in separate cages until quigley stopped trying to attack them. Quigley has also become more cheerful and playful, so I'm happy to see her happy with her new friends- even if it's a slow process.
Well, last night- or I should say the wee hours of this morning- something happened...not sure if it was a night fright or someone accidentally snuggled up to quigley and she freaked, but all heck broke loose which woke EVERYONE up including the kid. Cloud had taken cover in one cage, while lemon and quigley flapped and screeched about in the other- I closed the cage doors and had my husband get lemon out and put him in the other cage with cloud. All the while the kid had toddled out of bed crying and screeching, which then I spent the next hour trying to get him back to sleep.....and by the time he was sound asleep again, I was wide awake
I cannot **wait** until we're in the new house and the budgies have their new aviary...so tired of these cages!!
So let's see how many cups of coffee it takes to get me through the day
