I have bought 3 rosy Bourke from online and got it shipped to me. Have had budgies for long time now and also have breed them successfully. First time for rosy.

All 3 were fine and last 2 weeks one of them sit on the cage floor and doesn't move much. Picked up notice very light weight. Took her to vet and I am not wealthy by any means but couldn't see a sick bird. Spend 266 dollars and vet couldn't figure it out. Wanted to do more tests which was going to cost few more hundred dollars.

But needed up giving her antibiotics.

Been giving her that but no luck. Been a week already. Still same condition.

I took her out of avian and put her separate cage of her own. She eat but her neck is so wacky and she just rotates and rotates if moving. Like In circles

Now 2 other rosy are sitting also on the floor. Not behaving as bad but I am afraid they might also do the same ????

The name of antibiotics is cefa

From what I have understood, rosy has laid an egg?
If so, the symptoms of "sitting down on the cage and not moving" may actually be egg binding, which is a very unfortunate thing for a bird.
Try to ask your vet to check for egg binding, that may be the case.

No. They are young birds. Only 3 months old. Now as I see other one of them is almost doing the same. They are in the same cage with budgies. None is the budgies are acting like this.

I am in Chicago. Is there such a thing as free vet ?

Please take them out of the cage they are sharing with the budgies. Bourke's are quite meek and the budgies can seriously hurt them. Are the other Bourke's moving their head in the same way that she is? If they are all 3 sitting on the bottom of the cage, they could all be infected with something and only an avian vet can diagnose that. If they are then your budgies are at risk as well.
I don't know of any free vets anywhere.
Wishing you the best of luck that you can find out what is going on with them and that they get better.

I'm wondering if the bourkes might have gotten sick from the budgies??? Whatever the sickness is, it doesn't harm the budgies, but it does harm the bourkes?

Just a thought...

But I agree, it may be best to keep the bourkes separate from the budgies for now. What tests were done?

I'm afraid that without further testing, there may not be much that can be done to save them. :(

I mean, besides a hospital tank (critter keeper or a small 5-10 gallon aquarium) kept warm with easy access to food and water. Electrolytes added to water may help.

Are your cages good? I was wondering about metal toxicity? Do they scrape and chew on the bars?

Would your vet let you budget plan ie pay some every month? Try to explain your situation or are there any family etc that can help you out at this difficult time?
