I needn't have worried.

I prepared carefully, placing the cages close together and going very slowly so that 'Setta needn't be too frightened by her new experience. I slowly opened the sluice gate into the big cage and plopped a dozen or so sunflower seeds on its platform. Before I got the chance to even *think* about 'Setta being nervous, the greedy girl had *shot* through the gate and was gobbling them up!

Mind you, she hung firmly onto my thumb the whole time with her right foot. When she finished, she had a big stretch and then took off to explore her new house. She loves it! She swung on the rope swings, climbed up her wooden ladder, bounced on her boing and even swung from her hanging rope to her circular swing and back again. She's fine!

Barney and Madge seemed a bit - um - amazed? They were fascinated by the odd white birdie in the cage next door and set up a fluting whistling as they watched her. 'Setta wasn't particularly interested in the Beaks, beyond a cursory 'hello' at Madge. I really don't believe she meant it, but rather happened to say it just as Madge approached - still, it was funny.

Here is a video I made with my iPad. I hope it's OK to post it - please, Mods, remove it if not! :)

YAY! I am happy for both of you! I know this has been in the works for quite some time!

Wonderful news, Trish, Rosetta is a true courageous too!

Nothing wrong with the video, nice to hear your voice!!

Setta has a sparkling new aviary and the girl is not afraid to use it! Haha, she wasted no time at all trying out the new gear and making herself at home. Sweet set up, Trish. And The Beaks, Iā€™ve missed them, they have super nice digs too and a new neighbor to study.
Love the video, not a thing wrong with it.

They are remarkable the way they adapt to change sometimes. Poor old Fang is one of those highly strung kinda cockatiels but he has adapted to not one but two new cages in the space of about 6 months - when I thought heā€™d be terrified he moved straight in with no fuss at all :)

Rosetta looks right at home already and I love her Olympic sized swimming pool too. Iā€™m looking forward to seeing more videos of her and the Beaks real soon!

So what is that hanging basket thingie? Does it come in a size big enough for a U2? I'm always looking for things to amuse His Royal Highness.

just make sure it isn't misinterpreted as a nest lol--- I can see mine doing that...givien the round shape and potential for "cupped" body contact lol/oy. My U2 hasn't laid an egg or anything, but she would love nothing better than to lay eggs...so paper is even currently off-limits here...don't want a broody umbrella cockatoo.

It's just a cheap wire plant hanger without a liner. I use it to put small chewy things in and it doubles as a swing (which is why the nest-thing isn't a problem - as soon as Rosetta gets in, it swings wildly and she has to hang on to keep her balance). She really loves it and is spending more and more time swinging on it and hanging upside-down from it. The Beaks just sit on theirs, not using it for play as 'Setta does. :)

Aww ā€˜Setta looks very happy in her new house. Sheā€™s soo beautiful!
