I figured my GCC Libby needed a buddy (common excuse, huh? ;)) and after toying with the idea of an eclectus, then thinking maybe a GCC color mutation, I came across rose-crowned conures in my local classifieds.

I picked up a cute little dude that I named Tristan Farnon (so much more dignified with a last name); surprisingly, he is larger than my GCC - I was expecting smaller although I'm not sure why. He is quiet, not mouthy or bitey, and is learning fast. Although he was hand reared and had a lot of interaction he wasn't really worked with much (just plopped on a shoulder) so he did not know how to step up but he learned within an hour.

He and Libby are getting along OK. She (?) is bossy and they aren't best buds or anything but they are civil. They have separate cages.

I don't normally feed them like this!

Next step is potty training!

Very cute! Congrats on your new baby.

That is normal. Some conures, such as the Rose crown conure , blue crown conure, cherry head conure and golden conure are bigger than a GCC

Rose Crown Conures are not too much bigger than a GCC. Suns seem to be about twice the size of GCCs and BCCs (Blue Crowns) are twice as big as Suns.

Somehow the green cheek looks to be bigger in the pics. Did you quarantine before letting them play together?

adorable pics congrats on the new baby. Alison and sweetie pie:D
