Hi all
I am a new Rosie owner, our new baby is 3 months old. We brought him home a few days back. I've read and heard conflicting information about so many topics.
My biggest question...do they have mood swings or times of the day they are grumpy? Lot's of biting from time to time. We don't have him out but a few times a day, not for long periods-we were told to leave him in the cage to get comfortable.
He's in a 36x28 cage, lots of different types of toys and perches.
If you could give me some advice and any additions to what you think I should know, I'd appreciate it.

It can take a while for a bird to settle in to a new home, so at this point I wouldn't worry too much - just give him some time and let him settle in.

It could well be that he's biting a lot at the moment because he's nervous of you, but as your relationship develops you'll probably find he still wants to grab fingers and other body parts when they pass near his head - galahs are typically very beaky birds, constantly wanting to put things in their mouth to explore them. The best way forward is to train them to be gentle when they're using their beak on you, and if you look for threads on bite pressure training you should find some pointers. You it's unlikely you'll stop him using his beak but you should be able to turn it from a chomp to a handshake!

Thank you. He's not drawing blood, it's just not pleasant and it's random. Usually after we've had him out, petting his head and then chomp. Nervous makes sense...I think we need to ease up on petting and let him get more comfortable.
I'll look up beak pressure.
