Just heard the news today and I'm devastated. For those who didn't know Rhea, she was a lovebird with PBFD who lost all her feathers and had a huge following for her fiery spirit and for her huge hand-made sweater collection made by fans from all around the world.

She passed away on Tuesday in her sleep peacefully, and is survived by her husband bird Indi (another lovebird infected with PBFD), her two families that cared for her throughout her entire disease, and all her fans throughout the world. She will be deeply missed. I always loved seeing pictures of her wearing her various sweaters and videos of her chirping happily and living life to the fullest despite her disease.

Her legacy and her spirit will live on. She taught so many people that DIFFERENT IS BEAUTIFUL. Her Instgram will still be active to remember her life.

Never take life for granted! Rest in peace, sweet, fiery Rhea. You can fly high in the sky now. <3

I know! I saw this morning

So sad to know she passed, but she really put up a fight. I remember her being first fed by indi, they were such a funny pair

Oh my gosh, I KNOW! They were so sweet. Kind of a weird situation, with one male sharing two females, but somehow it worked out. I'm glad Rhea got to experience true love before her passing. She seemed truly happy.

Terribly sad, Rhea was beautiful in spirit and appearance. It is not often an animal with health issues becomes a cause célèbre.

Fly free Rhea, you are so well loved.

Aww that is sad news, count me in as a fan of hers. Her collection of sweaters should be framed, photographed and made into a poster with a picture of Rhea. I wonder where I could suggest this. I am always sad when I make my donation to Cornell Univ. - this time it's hurtin, a lot.

Rest in peaceful eternity, little bird.
Sincerest sympathy and condolences to all who cared.

maybe try sending a message to them on Twitter or facebook? Could possibly suggest doing so at their vets or even a university researching into PBFD

I read this yesterday and was so sad! Her owner was amazing with the love and care she gave her to the end. Fly free now, fully feathered!

What a cutie!!! Im sad to see she passed...rhea brought a smile to my face..even though i just discovered her.fly free little one!

Aww, I didn't hear she'd died. Scientists need to make more of an effort to help cure and prevent psittacine illnesses.

Anyways, we have to remember that she lived a really good life filled with love and happiness. If she didn't have PBFD, she could've ended up living with someone who'd neglect her and just use her as a decoration. We have to remind ourselves that we shouldn't get caught up with how long an animal has lived, rather, we should focus on how much they've enjoyed their life. Well, obviously we should strive to have our companion animals live for as long as humanely possible, but we need to remember to make their lives fun and fulfilling.

Her companion Lemon she lived with for the last few months of her life passed away today, the two only a few weeks apart. Both naked birdies are in heaven now though will all their feathers. RIP Rhea andLemon.. you will be remembered. I hope indi will be okay. :(

I just saw this in IG this morning. Poor Lemon, I know she'll be sorely missed. I guess they're going to have Indi tested, and if he's clear they'll get him a healthy lady. I can't imagine how hard it must be for them all.
