RIP Nate - the best cockatiel
Nate our family cockatiel past away last night. He was at least 11 years old we got him from a family who caught him in their back yard. He was a stubborn guy but he had a beautiful whistle. He always let you know when you did something he didn't like. RIP old grumpy man I'll miss you.

I am very sorry to hear about your loss :(

Thanks. He was something special to the whole family.

Sorry for your loss!!! Unfortunately you can not tell the age of a bird by looking unless they're really old, you can sorta tell from looking at them. Do you have any idea what he passed away from??? Captive Cockatiels can live like 25 years now days....I knew someone who had their Cockatiel for over 25 years.

So very sorry for your loss, he mustve had the best 11 years with you

Sorry for your loss of Nate. He is flying free now!

I'm so very sorry for your loss of Nate. I'm glad you got to share your home with him for eleven years. My thoughts are with you and your family.

He was so lucky to have you for 11 years, hard to tell what all he had been through before that. You and your family are in my thoughts.
Fly free, Nate...

*Hugs*

Bye Nate. You won't be forgotten.

I am very sorry for your loss. I am sure the whole family feels this loss as Nate sounds like he was a fond family member. You will all have collective and individual memories of your little friend.

Fly free little Nate. You were very well loved and will be missed.

So sorry. There is no sadness like this sadness. As someone else said, I'm sure his best years were the ones he shared with you. ((hugs))

No idea he lived with my parents and my mom said he was becoming slower this last year not as active. His yearly exam three months ago showed no significant findings. He was happy and all whistles the day before. Just woke up at the bottom of the cage. It was sudden and unexpected. I offered a gross necropsy but my mom declined. She feels bad for not spending as much time with him. Shes going through chemo right now so she has lots of drs apt. The last thing I want is for her to feel guilt right now.

Thank you all for your kind and caring words!
