Ringneck Biting. Please help

Hi Peeps

I need some help please, I have my ring neck for almost 2 months now. He/ she is almost 4 months old now and has started biting every time I put my hand near the cage. I've tried ignoring it and just continuing with positive reinforcement but it still happens when i go back to play with him.
This has been happening for the past 2 weeks now.
Also when I do get him on y hand, he flies off and I have to fetch him from the other side of the room. Keep in mind he is left with a open cage all the time.
Any advice would be highly appreciated.

You may want to consider clipping his wings, atleast while training. That's what I did while training my conures when I first got them, and the training/bonding has went fantastically.
As for the biting, you mostly want to leave them alone, or cover the cage if he's inside if he starts to bite you. Letting him bite you and ignoring it teaches that it's okay, and the bird may just not think it's hurting you. When my bird gets bitey I put him in a separate room/area for a bit as a sort of time-out. Mostly cause I don't want to put him in his cage and associate the cage as a punishment, cages are for fun and sleep! Hehe.
Also if his mood changes and he doesn't bite you when you're near his cage, praise him, or offer a treat! Even if he just ignores you. Pretty much you want him to know that anything except for attacking you whenever you're in range is a good behavior haha.

IRN owners in my other bird groups all say that they go through a biting stage...some only last a few week/months, others last a year.......you just have to "wade" it out....keep holding/interacting with it and if bites while your holding, shake your hand and say "no bite"....keep doing this(dont shake to point it falls off)....youtube has a few vids. of this training technique...and Ive used for my one Lovebird and works great.
Like the other poster said, clip the wings.....makes them have to depend on you more and helps with the bonding...If I let my Lovebirds wings grow out, they get more bossy and less willing to stay with me.
