Riko the greenwing

Hi my name is amanda and i just adopted my first macaw! He is a green wing named Riko and he is the sweetest guy ever! I was wondering if it would be possible to change his name though?

I changed both of my rescue bird's names. For Kitty I picked a name that sounded closer to her original name of 'Kiwi'. She knows her name for certain.

I personally don't think it's right to change the name of a bird or any animal if it knows it's name unless the name sounds very similar to the original.

welcome. I just saw my first greenwing macaw at a gentlemans house in Sarasota Fla where I went to buy a Parrot stand that I saw on Craigs List. Beautiful Very large bird the colors are incredible. thanks I was thinking I may change it from Riko to Niko...I like that name better and it is pretty stinkin close to his original name

When I said I think it's wrong, I mean when people completely change the name.
