Parrots
Tsali - African Grey- I am a one parrot parent. It's a full time job keeping Tsali healthy and happy.
I have noticed that Tsali almost always reaches for and/or holds things with his right foot. This got me to wondering, is your parrot if parrots tend to be more right or left footed.

Yep, definitely a lefty :D

Both of mine are lefties. Gracie will actually shift body weight and change legs to grab with her left if she wants something.
I checked photos & both are holding with left.

Interesting!

Never really noticed which foot she grabs with, but she does step up right foot first 95% of the time.

One of each here. :D Ralph the QP mostly uses his left foot to reach for or hold onto things. Scooter the CAG is right-footed, though she'll sometimes take something in her left foot and move it to the right.

Great thread! My birds are a mix of both.

I have heard that before too, that most parrots are left footed. I've seen my 3 parrots use both feet.

Except for the budgies who don't use feet for holding things. They step up with the left though, but maybe because I always offer my right hand.

Thank you to everyone who has replied so far. Parrots have such intriguing personalities.

I think mine are all left footed. I just put Charlotte to bed and she stepped up off her play perch with her left foot, and the pictures I have of Cookie, Goofy and Leo eating stuff shows them holding stuff in their left feet, but I've honestly not paid close enough attention to know if that's normal for them or if those pictures happen to be an aberration.
