I was looking through some old odds and ends in the toy part drawer to give Griffin (my most active guy) some cheap, easy new toys without having to buy new stuff when I already have a drawer full of pieces.

If you don't already do this, why not save the usable parts instead of throwing away the entire old toy?

This one took 5 seconds to make... Okay, maybe 30 seconds ;). Do you see the almonds in the slots? Super easy foraging toy.

A foraging ball with miscellaneous toys, beads, and Nutriberries inside. Acrylic ball twists open to change toys, treats, food or just about anything you can think of that your bird will like. The chain comes off so you can also use it on the cage bottom if they prefer. Of course you can use clean boxes and cartons to hide goodies inside too.

Very fun looking Julie! Did those flowers on the top one come from Scooter Z toys?

Yep. You recognized their flowers :). My boys love Scooter Z toys.
The original toy lasted until Griffin found the thin flexible plastic string holding it all together... about 5 minutes. Then I instantly had several loose 'pieces' to use for other toys!

How did Kiwi like the one you got for him a while back?

Yes, they have very distinctive flowers:) He also snapped the original string (I replaced with leather). Big bird toys seem to be big blocks and beads of wood for chewing. He's very tactile and likes 'licking' things and exploring with his beak gently, so little bird toys are more fun for him. He especially seems to love the Scooter Z ones.

How are they liking the 'new' toys? Are those almonds all gone now:D

Right now, actually all afternoon today Griffin has been on a play date at Raven's :). He's gone through most of Raven's toys, had little moments of bickering and tug o'war with foot toys.

Later on when he's back home I'm sure the almonds will be found and gone asap. I have to be careful not to fill his foraging toys with too many treats and Nutriberries since he's a small guy. He's getting pretty good at foraging too!

Super cute toy ideas, Julie!

A play date for Griffin and Raven! That is so adorable!
