Hello!

I am a vet student (from the Royal Veterinary College) carrying out research on feather plucking. I have created a survey for parrot owners and would be grateful if you guys could fill it out for me please! It should take about 5 minutes and has general questions on how you manage your parrot. Answers are anonymous and if you have more than one parrot, if you could please fill out one survey per parrot (you dont have to do all, you can do it for as many as you like). The survey can be filled out for both parrots that do and do not feather pluck!

Thank you!:rainbow1:

I've done the survery. However, I think it would benefit you to distinguish between plucking and barbering. Similar behaviors, often similar causes. A lot of what you would colloquially call "plucking" is actually barbering.

Filled out your survey using my African grey as subject.
She is the only bird I have with a feather plucking problem.

ive filled out also, the only time my grey has plucked is when she laid eggs. so she has plucked but only at a specific time, nesting, hope it helps.

Completed your survey.

Good luck on your research.
FYI: None of the past students have ever gotten back with the results of their work. I hope you break that trend.

I was just about to make the same comment. You might also add questions about sleep, cage size, petting-styles/contact, number of people in the household/interaction/socialization variation etc...

Nice survey, good luck!!

I completed for a Goffins who barbers. Answered all questions and annotated details in remarks section. If your survey is strictly limited to bona fide plucking, please delete.
