I need to find a rescue near me. I've been asking local pet stores if I can help out, adoption organizations, and they said that I need a parent since i'm under 18...seems fine right? Guess what? My mother is completely PETRIFIED of birds. She can't handle their flaps and thinks they're gonna claw her eyes out. So, thats out of the question. Now i'm turning to you guys. Do you know of any rescues in Modesto California area that lets young teens help out with birds?

I don't know of rescues, but... good for you, for caring, reaching out, researching...

When I first read this, I figured, 5 minutes, I would have your answer! Wrong! I can not find anything close! If there are, they are not listed! You can trying calls to your local vets and animal shelters. There are several cat/dog shelters in your county.

Yeah, haha. I've looked EVERYWHERE. I'm still looking but thanks for the help. Lol

Yeah from my experience a rescue is going to require you to be 18+... and if your mom is petrified of them it might not be the best idea to get a parrot at the time, just my thought though.

If you are still interested and can't find a rescue you could find an ad on craigslist or something with someone looking to re-home their parrot. It's still an animal in need of a home, just coming directly from the source instead of a rescue being the middle man

Oh, i'm nowhere near ready for a parrot. I'm just doing reasearch until I move out. The more I know the better.

How about a breeder? Maybe you will be able to help out at a larger breeder, if there's any in your area.
