These two are my male cockatiels. I know for a fact that Renji would be happier in an aviary never to talk to a human again but I still have trouble with the idea of taking him to the shelter to join in the aviary of tiels and parakeets. I know he would love it and it would make him happy but for some reason I've been putting it off. I've been talking about finding him an aviary setting for years now and now that there is a viable option I still haven't done it.
I have also been thinking of working with Dante a bit and maybe trying to adopt him out to someone. I might for a period try to cage him with my girls but if they go into egg laying overdrive that obviously won't work. Dante likes other tiels so if Renji goes into the aviary I don't want Dante to be alone. Dante has potential to make a good pet but I just don't work with him one on one any more since we moved and he has been pals with Renji.
Soo really I guess I'm working on taking Renji to the aviary and then trying to decide what to do with Dante. Renji is the easy one but Dante is the hard one to decide on. I guess tonight maybe I'll trim his nails and then take him down to the girls to see how they react to a male invading their space.
I guess in the end it feels weird to be thinking of rehoming two of my birds when I work with a rescue and am planning on bringing a macaw home:20:
