I've searched everywhere I can drive to and not found anything decent, so I'm going to have to go online. I'm not an online shopper and I worry all the time about scams and whatnot. Where have you had good success from in purchasing your parrot cage?

I know that typically bigger is better, and maybe later down the road that will be doable, but right now we are dealing with a 14yo CAG who has only ever been in a homemade chicken wire cage with a single wooden dowel for the perch. I've had her just over 3 weeks and have been working with her on her foot strength and making good progress, but she is still awkward about moving about. She gets very uncertain about different sizes and has just now gotten used to having vertical and horizontal bars instead of wire mesh.

She is currently in a macaw travel cage(like this one) and looks at home in it. I almost hate to take her out of it, but eventually she needs to have more perches and space to exercise. She gets VERY scared of new things, especially toys. I've tried countless things and they just about all scare her to death. I start by playing with it myself and then I offer it to her and she just won't have anything to do with it. If I put something new in her cage she will avoid it at all costs. I've managed to get her into shredding boxes/toilet paper rolls and this weekend introduced shredding discs. She was NOT ok with the disc being on the rope hanging from the bars, but after separating it, playing with it myself, and slowly showing her it was another fun thing to chew... she has taken to it, though still weary of it.

So my main concern right now is something about the same width and depth as what she has, but taller, so I can put more perches in it of various sizes to get her to exercise.

I was thinking a flight cage might be good? 32" wide and 20" deep is about as much as I can go right now, height is no problem. Her current cage is 30x18x21 and she is able to stretch her wings just fine in it(and she does enjoy doing this a lot).

So if anyone has any suggestions on where I can find something appropriate for her for right now online, I'd much appreciate it.

Hi Rrrma: I purchased an avain adventure cage not long ago from Petco.com and have been very happy with this cage. It assembled very easilly for a large cage. Petco on line actually has the best prices I could find for this quality cage. You can take a look at it below. I was not disappointed with this cage at all. It came Fed X in about 5 days from purchase. Good luck!!

Just a suggestion, you might consider a used cage, you can usually find some good deals on craig's list or ebay classifieds, I just found a 30x40 cage with playpen top a couple months ago like new for $100, if your dead set on a new cage you might check to see if there will be any bird shows or expos in your area, you can save hundreds off the price of retail that way, unless you know the cage your buying online, ie manufacturer, model number ect, you may be disappointed with the quality when it arrives, so much really cheap mailorder stuff these days...good luck :)

Sadly I missed out on a cage that was on craiglist that would have been very good. It was listed right before I got her and I didn't think about it until it was too late. AND I managed to miss out on the bird expo, it just happened too :/

I don't mind a used, I'm just a little specific about what I want to get her right now and it needs to come from somewhere reliable. I'll continue to keep an eye out. I don't want to move her right this minute, as she is just now getting comfortable with this cage, but in the next few months she will need to move more.

90% of my cages are Kings Cages. I do have a couple A&E and Avian Adventures as well. Craigslist is a good place for used cage (don't forget to look for rust). I think Kings Cages & Bird Paradise (mybirdstore.com) offer free shipping.

I just ordered an upgrade cage for my BFA, from Bird's Paradise. I was happy with the ordering process, it got here quickly, and the cage itself was well made and no missing pieces. I hate missing pieces. Would definitely order from them again. I'd shopped around quite a bit, and the prices there seemed a little higher than others, until I took the free shipping into account. Then they wound up being quite a bit better. It's expensive to ship a large bird cage!

I got this one, and Boo has been happy as a clam since he moved in:

24228 HQ Dual Level Large Split Cage 42x28 - Presented by My Bird Cage

Pretty much any Kings Cage or Avian Adventures cage is going to be good quality as long as it's the real thing and not a knock off. Petco has the best prices for a new Avian Adventures cage - just like SB said. The Kings Cage website offers free or cheap shipping - I think. Even new, Kings Cages don't have to cost a fortune Bird Cage, Java Wood Perch, Avian Supplies, Pluck No More, Bird Food
