So, I hate to have to rehome this little guy, but I don't have the time to work with him and give him the attention he deserves. I've had him for about a year and I got him from another person that does rescues in the area, who was very overloaded with birds along with some others that I received at the same time. Right now, I'm also overloaded with rescues and can't devote enough time to all of them.
Andy is estimated to be about 9-10 years old, but I have no clue, assumed male but not DNA tested. He's pretty healthy and has made a pretty good turnaround in the time I've had him. He still has a little bit of feathers to molt out, but he's eating well and slowly accepting new foods. Originally on an all seed diet, he now eats pellets primarily and loves fruits and slowly learning to like vegetables.
His biggest problems are that he is cage aggressive and territorial. He hates leaving his cage, but one he's out, he can be extremely sweet and cuddly. He can be very destructive and goes through toys and perches like crazy. He is also very LOUD, as most conures are. He also will need a newer, larger cage than what he has, but he's been very resistant to any changes.
What I'm looking for in an individual or family:
Previous bird experience is a must, Andy is not an easy bird and needs someone who can handle him and work with him appropriately. If you have other birds, that is okay but I need to know he can get the individual attention that he needs.
Vet references are preferred, I would like to know that he'll go to someone that can adequately provide for him long term.
Preferably local to Philly and surrounding areas possibly into New Jersey, as I can't do much traveling (I can't drive.) And someone that would like to keep in contact so I don't feel so bad about rehoming him. I will not ship him, and ideally I would like to see where he would be living.
Rehoming fee is negotiable, because I know he will need a new cage and some extra attention. My primary concern is finding the right home for him.
