I have a 6 year old, male, Congo African Grey Parrot that I need to rehome due to a recent move and change in my life. He is a fully-flighted parrot that is outgoing, talkative and social. He enjoys being around people, but he is a typical Grey in that he does not like to be touched by anyone but his 1 bonded person. He steps up, loves to snuggle and be petted by me only; however, he loves attention from anyone and everyone (and loves getting his picture taken). He has an impressive vocabulary, is super smart and does not have any screaming or behavioral issues. He did pluck for a short amount of time ~2 years ago, but his feathers have grown back and he’s left them alone since. I did not know what the issue was and/or why he stopped (or started for that matter), but thankfully he does not do it anymore.
This is extremely difficult, as I have never had to rehome any pet and I love him dearly, but the circumstance I am in has me worrying about his quality of life (and safety). I’d prefer he go to a home where he can remain fully-flighted and has plenty of outside cage time. I had him out every morning before work and every evening after work, and then out on the weekends. He is on a pelleted diet with some seeds and fruits/veggies/birdie bread daily (he loves junk food though and will learn which cabinet has the chips & goodies). He is a very well-cared for and loved pet. Therefore, he will require vet references and a rehoming fee. He will come with 1 of his cages (of your choice), his Atom, toys, food, etc.

I wish you the best of luck. I'm glad you're reaching out here... lots of good folks who may be ready for your bird. :)

Hi, I am looking for a companion for my African Grey we have had for 7 yrs we resuced because his owner didn't have time for him after he lost his bonded mate. he plucks because of it and we think having another bird would help with the behavior. We live in Buffalo NY and would be willing to drive to Philly . We do require proof of the bird being free of the Borneo virus. Our bird is negative. Our Pepe also is encouraged to be out of his cage and fly in the home.
