My family and I have a beautiful blue-front amazon that we are trying to rehome. We recently had another child and unfortunately just do not have the time to give the proper attention that he needs. I have had him since I was 12 years old. We live in Virginia.

It is. My parents watched him while I was deployed, but they both travel too much for work to be able to take him.

Oh I feel for you :( That must really suck....and only you know what is right for your parrot and your family. Please don't take this as judgement - I know lie throws us curveballs. Just to be sure, have you considered foraging toys or playing movies during the day? (mums Galah's favourite channel movie was Frozen :/ ) Could you find a volunteer student in your area that might like access to parrots?
Maybe call the local rescues? Not to hand over your parrot, but in case they know of someone who has their heart set on a BFA and from a good home?

I wish you the best of luck and comfort.

Your blue front is probably better with you than without you, even with less attention than normal. But only you know what you can and can't handle right now. We now have an African Grey whose former companion just had her first child. I originally offered to foster this guy until his owner felt she was ready to have him back, but her mind was made up. [Although she appreciates the occasional update we send.]

Maybe you can find someone who would be willing to foster until you've gotten yourself settled in? I know a local [to me] rescue has done that. If the person whose parrot was being fostered decided the parrot would no longer fit their lifestyle, the rescue kept it. But many people just needed a few months or a year to get back onto an even keel. It is something to think about.

I'm probably a couple hours north of you [southern Pennsylvania] & if I can help, please reach out. I wish you the best.

How long have you owned your amazon? How old is he

Where in Virginia are you located? There is a Rescue group called Pheonix Landing that serves VA, MD, and NC you could look into.

I used to live in Virginia and Phoenix Landing is an awesome group. Definitely contact them. They have people on waiting lists.
