Reducing noise.

Does anyone use any methods of "soundproofing" to reduce the sounds of their birds spreading through the house?

I've heard putting area rugs on hardwood, covering a portion of the cage with a quilt, and opening a window can help diffuse the sounds to these areas.

Any input?

When I built my bird room.(my house up north)I set it up in a finished basement..I installed a drop ceilings over an existing sheet rock ceiling with extra insulation laid across panels ..Walls were insulated and a layer of what I describe as bubble wrap was laid across all framing to avoid transferring vibration to framing.( specifically engineered to reduce noise)....use 5/8 sheet rock and use solid core doors...I went with a thick pad and Berber carpet(used plastic runners under cages).. I also set it up on a separate heating zone in order to keep the temp consistent throughout the year..

Never really need the sound proofing as my birds hardly ever scream....

I dont really do anything for sound, but im with greenwing mine dont really scream. Ive had screamers before but once they are in my house for awhile and realize they get hours upon hours out each night it usually just goes away. Right now they are all out i am not directly in the room but around close enough and they are all quiet all i can hear is the caique doing a werid boop boop sound;) and maybe the blue crowned conure alittle
