American Bulldog Mix,
I am the owner of a 1.5 year old female red front. I previously had a 10 year old, male red front, Elvis, but he passed last summer after a vet visit gone wrong. I am bringing home Erin, my red front, this weekend. I am looking for advice. I have posted a thread in the forums under Macaw topics. She is very sweet and loves to be pet, but always wants to escape and fly (my last macaw could not fly), and she will bite and gets very easily stressed if we try to have her step up. We are told to force her to and she will get used to it, but it's a fight and she gets extremely scared and bites. WE have tried coaxing her with pine nuts, but with no luck. Just any advice on how we can help her transition to socialization. She has been int he same cage with her sister since they were born, so I am afraid she might have never been properly socialized and if she was that maybe she is reverting to a more wild side, using her sister as her flock. Any help would be great! Thanks so much!

Thank you!

Welcome to the forum! I just answered your other post. Just remember patience is the key and let her progress as she is ready to. Going too slow is always better than going too fast. I do admit though I have not had a macaw, but they seem to the birds that like me best. And with at least some things, birds are birds:)
