Hi all this is possibly the wrong location but wanted it to get as much views as possible as this looks like such s nice recipie and I can't wait to give it a try myself

It is a human recipie so I have adjusted bits slightly to suit fids

2 eggs
200-300g asparagus or green beans
2 red onions
300g mixed beans
can or fresh tuna ( approx 180g )
3-4 handfuls spinach or such (original recipie asks for lettuce but we all know that's bad for birds )

:whiteblue:Boil eggs in shell , cool , peel and dice
break hard ends off asparagus or trim the beans
Blanche in hot water for 2-3mins and quickncool in cold water
dry on a paper towel
dice and fry onions until soft and caramilised
seperate/ flake the tuna
mix all in a large bowl

Original recipie calls for 8-10 slices halved French bread cooked till crisp in a little oil and garlic
I would suggest making your own croutons or substituting with birdie bread :green2:

This serves 4 human meals so plenty there for freezing etc or even eating yourself
hope you enjoy :grey:

I suggest losing the onions, fine as people food, highly toxic to birds ;)

I agree with Bobby. Sounds good minus the onions. For some reason, like choccy, they're toxic to most animals. You can't give dogs or cats (yeah, like fussy creatures like kitty's would ever even think of it, but still!) onions either for example. It causes some sort of blood disorder called hemolytic aneamea. (sp) It takes large quantities in dogs, but not so in birds for obvious reasons.

One of those strange things.

O I didn't know that thanks heaps for the heads up
1 batch minus onions coming up lol :)

It DOES sound yummy!!

I'm a sucker for red onions. ESPECIALLY with tuna!

If I was to attempt this - I'd have to make 2 batches. One with, one without hahah!

I knew about the rest just not onions thanks guys
If I cooked a stew with onion in it and then removed onion bits from the birds portion would that be ok ???
Making a yummy stew for tea I know the birds would love

Onions sort of flavour the rest of the meal and "slop around" don't they?

I personally wouldn't but that's probably me being over cautious!

I would rather the bird miss the flavour !!!!!!
You can never be to over cautious, rather safe than sorry

Well my pets tend to live over their expected lifespan so I must be doing something right!

Gerbils who lived to 7, just shy of 8 years....
Hamsters to 6&7...
A guinea who was nearly 9....
My rabbit Moo is currently checking in at 8....

*TOUCH WOOD* This continues with the rest of my brood!

Dave jokes Cal will outlive us all if my record has anything to go by lol.

Thanks for sharing but I think birds mostly like beans, birdie bread, breakfast, cake, cookies, dinner, egg, fruit & vegetables, hand-feeding formula, muffins, pasta, rice, birdie pizza, pudding, custard, seed mix, treats and more. . . . These are the best food recipes of birds in my mind. . .
Thanks for sharing your recipes.

One that l know has bird seeds in it(sorry) but if you want to make it, here is how:

You will need:
•Pine cone
•Peanut butter
•Wild bird seeds(Sorry)

Take the pine cone and role it in the peanut butter. Sprinkle wild bird seed on the pine cone covered in peanut butter. Hang the pine cone covered in peanut butter and bird seeds in you tree. Then you have wild birds in your tree!
